If you know it

What is Panch Pakshi Shastra?

Panch Pakshi Shastra ("the science of the five birds") is an ancient Tamil system of timing, traditionally linked to the Siddha tradition of South India. It teaches that every person is connected to one of five birds, and that the strength of that bird changes many times through each day and night.

When your bird is strong, actions started at that time are supported. When it is weak, the same effort meets more resistance. That is why Panch Pakshi is used to choose the best time for important work: interviews, meetings, signing documents, travel, purchases and difficult conversations.

The five birds

Vulture (Valluru)

Associated with sharp focus, determination and seeing the bigger picture.

Owl (Aandhai)

Associated with wisdom, patience and quiet observation.

Crow (Kaakam)

Associated with intelligence, adaptability and resourcefulness.

Cock (Kozhi)

Associated with courage, discipline and early-morning drive.

Peacock (Mayil)

Associated with grace, creativity and natural charm.

Your bird is determined by your birth Nakshatra (birth star) and whether you were born in the waxing (Shukla Paksha) or waning (Krishna Paksha) half of the Moon.

The five activities

Through each day and night, every bird moves through five activities: Ruling (Arasu), Eating (Oon), Walking (Nadai), Sleeping (Thuyil) and Dying (Saavu). Ruling is the most powerful period to act, Eating and Walking are supportive, and Sleeping and Dying are best kept for rest and planning.

  • Confirmation of your birth bird from your birth details.

Combine timing with tarot

Tarot tells you what to do; Panch Pakshi tells you when. Many clients book a career tarot reading to make the decision and a Panch Pakshi consultation to pick the moment.

Traditions differ slightly in how Nakshatras are grouped into birds. Prachi confirms your bird from your full birth details before giving timings.
